COVID-19 Cases in U.S. Decline for First Time in 3 Months

The fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States may be dying out as cases decline for the first time in 3 months, suggests latest update from the University of Minnesotas Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy.

The 7-day average of daily fresh infections has dropped below 120,000 and seems to show a sustained fall, revealed the center. During the past week, new cases dropped by 20% and hospitalizations came down by around 9%.The decline in cases during the past week represents the longest sustained fall since June 23. Projections at Johns Hopkins indicate that the cases will continue to show a fall through at least January next year. While cases and hospitalizations appear to be declining, the center stated that fatalities are likely to peak in the coming weeks… (Medscape)
